What is it with these agencies? Why are they even funded and WHO is ultimately responsible for allowing this complete neglect and abuse to continue? HEADS SHOULD ROLL!

Sadly I ran into that many times in my 21 years in Hospice as a clinical social worker.

Told many times people have a right to live how they choose when it came to elderly.

My favorite as a mandated reporter was to make reports only to receive letters back telling me nothing found despite my report of abuse, neglect, and exploitation

Now, something will have to be done about all this. Laws will have to be made. Regulations are needed.

Same in Genesee County. CPS deemed that pulling a childs teeth with plyers was not abuse because they needed to come out per the parent. If they need to be pulled with plyers they are not ready to come out. The childrern were eventually removed and parental rights terminated after years of cases and reports to CPS.

My daughter would still be alive if Wayne Co CPS had done their job! Her death was preventable but sadly was not and has left my grandchildren motherless at 5 and 6 yo!

This makes me mad on so many levels. As a teacher, I was a designated reporter for abuse and neglect. Where were teachers and the school district? They should have called a truant officer. CPS should have been called. THERE IS NEVER A REASON FOR CHILDREIN IN MICHIGAN TO LIVE IN A TENT, unless they are on a camping trip. If Mom had cancer why wasn't someone helping her? Where was her family? 18 months out of school! How on earth does that happen? Where did these poor kids end up? The sheriff went above and beyond for them. As to Mr. Montgomery, where the hell were his neighbors that it took the a decade to do a wellness check? APS is the worst. CPS is not much better. We always heard they had to handle 4,000 cases/case worker. Well, maybe in the big cities in which case, someone had better be hiring more people. Not in the smaller communities. If more people watched out for the neighbors, there would be less elder abuse. There would be less child abuse or spousal abuse.

These agencies get state money and federal money and it all ends up in some administrator's pocket. It's been like that for years.

Try getting child support in Michigan is you are not married to the child's father. I had one case worker tell me he didn't handle child support if you weren't married. I wrote the judge and the director of the agency and since when. This is court ordered child support. My caseworker found himself looking for a new job and I got a case worker who was equally worthless. My daughter was 27 years old before I got regular child support. Her biological father died at age 68 still owing $4100+ in child support. That was 10% of what he had originally owed because they added interest to the amount that was in arrears. The system is broken. It needs an overhaul.

Kids fall between the cracks. Teachers try to help. We sent home food with kids in one family so they'd have something to eat on the weekend. Only to find out that dad had a freezer full of venison, but it was on for he and the Mrs. The kids scavenged what they had on the weekends. But CPS could do nothing for these kids.

I'm with the sheriff. We need to fix the system. Make sure their are qualified people handling the cases of children and elderly.

All the agencies everywhere getting government funding needs evaluated and taken out. This is a money maker for these agencies. They don't follow any rules or do what's best for families. It's very sad we pay for these services but people don't get the help they should. Anything funded by the government needs revamped evaluated and looked into. This includes special needs children as well as special needs adult services. I am in Ohio and I can tell personal stories that would make anyone's head spin.

CPS is nothing but money grabbing pigs. My grandsons went through there system and we're left hung out to dry. After placing them they never checked on them to see if they were ok, until I stepped in to take them. They make me sick. And don't let the court system slid on this either. Without the courts CPS can't do anything.

CPS is a joke and allowed my stepson to be murdered by his father. He complained all his dad did was sleep and only are toast inside of a messy home. CPS allowed 2 weeks to pass and gave the murderer 2 weeks to clean his house and pretend to be a "good father". Less than a year later my stepson was murdered. CPS should have prevented this off they only listened to us.

Sadly Bay county CPS is not any better!!

We have parents doing drugs and not caring for kids, but because they have a roof over their head and possibly food in the house...the child is deemed safe....so much for the child having a mental stable living, a caring parent they aren't scared of....but they are "safe"....it breaks heart the things I have seen and heard...CPS needs to do better for sure!

My daughter wouldn't have 3 documented mental health illnesses had Sanilac County CPS just done their jobs! Reporting from medical health professionals went ignored completely. Not an email, phone call, or any other follow-up made! Someone help these people in need. Stand up for those that can't stand up for themselves after years of mental abuse and trauma! The world demands you do better for all generations!
