I would be angry as a parent with a child in this district. If this incident had not gone k to the hallway, there would be no tape recording.

I remember subbing in a Flint school which will remain nameless. Toe young gentlemen had been at each other during most of class. I gave the one a chance to move away. When the other student wanted to move closer. I said no and asked the first student to step into the hallway with me. I asked him to take a deep breath and tell me exactly what the issue was. Next thing I know I am standing between 2 young men over 6ft tall ready to tear each other apart and silently praying "God, please don't let either of them swing or I am a dead woman." The bell to end class rang. One went one way and one went the other. I move to the classroom to greet in-coming students for the. Next class and I hear over the PA liaison officers to the fourth floor boys bathroom. Class begins and about halfway through one of the liaison officers comes in and asks me to step into the hall. The deputy principal is there. First, asking if I am okay. Second, asking did I in any away touch either of the two boys? I answered, that I stood between the two of them with my hands extended, praying they would not swing or I would be on the floor. That's when the bell rang and I moved to the door to greet the next class. Both gentlemen in question both went in opposite direction. One claimed I hit him. The other claimed I just spread my arms to stop them from fighting. I finished the last class and went home. I know they were both suspended for fighting. I gave the deputy principal the first, detention slip I had written.

Maybe Kearsley needs a liaison officer in the building. If they had one the coach could have called the office and told them the student walked out of class and could the officer walk see he gets to the office. It would have given both athlete and coach time to cool down before confronting each other.
