Ever since I can remember I have always asked questions.
I remember as a 6-year-old I would walk around my neighborhood with a toy camera and microphone interviewing neighbors. I would not ask them easy questions. I was a tough young reporter. I asked my neighbors about crimes in the neighborhood and suspicious behavior.
Ask my wife, I can be annoying at times when it comes to asking questions. I am a very literal person. I always have been.
In addition to asking questions I also have a lack of trust for most people.
My dad taught me to question everything, never take anything at face value, dig deep, and follow the money. My dad said if you follow the money you will find the answers.
As a journalist questioning authority is my job. My job is not to work in public relations for the government or public officials or even businesses. My job is to report accurate information on all sides —- even if it upsets someone.
There are some public officials who may not like doing interviews with me because I challenge them and ask questions they may not like.
The point of this message is that asking questions and not immediately trusting someone is a good thing. You don’t have to be a journalist to question people and think for yourself.
Critical thinking is important for everyone.
You are a great reporter Dave, everything you said makes sense. Your dad was a wise man as well ALWAYS follow the money, just wish more people would understand this! Thanks for everything you do for us and keep on being you and sharing the truth!
Awesome read Dave. Always seeking truth and never assuming anything. Great REPORTING and as always…KEEP IT REAL. Thank you always for your honesty 😉
